Common types of milling cutters

Excellent performance of alloy milling cutter comes from high quality and ultra-fine cemented carbide matrix. The tool wear resistance and cutting edge strength are perfectly combined. Strict and scientific groove control makes tool cutting and chip removal more stable. In the process of cavity milling, necking structure and short edge design not only ensure the rigidity of the tool, but also avoid the risk of interference. The application of alloy milling cutter will be expanded with the continuous exquisite technology. The common types of milling cutters can be summarized as follows.




1. Surface milling cutter, the main cutting edge of surface milling cutter is distributed on the cylindrical surface of milling cutter or on the conical surface of electrical apparatus of circular machine tool, and the auxiliary cutting edge is distributed on the end surface of milling cutter. Face milling cutter can be divided into integral face milling cutter, carbide integral welding face milling cutter, carbide clamp welding face milling cutter and carbide indexable face milling cutter.




2. Keyway milling cutter, when processing keyway, feed a small amount along the axis of the milling cutter first, then feed along the radial direction, so that repeated, that is, machine tools and electrical appliances can complete the keyway processing. Because the wear of the milling cutter is in the outer part of the end face and near the end face, only the cutting edge of the end face is grinded during grinding, so that the diameter of the milling cutter can remain unchanged, so that the precision of the keyway is higher and the life of the milling cutter is longer. The diameter of keyway milling cutter ranges from 2 to 63 mm, and the shank has straight shank and Moorish taper shank.




3. End milling cutter, waveform edge end milling cutter. The difference between wavy edge end milling cutter and common end milling cutter is that its edge is wavy. This kind of end milling cutter can effectively reduce cutting resistance, prevent vibration during milling, and significantly improve milling efficiency. It can change the narrow thin chips into thick and short chips, so that the chips can be removed smoothly. Because of the waveform of the cutting edge, the length of the cutting edge contacted with the workpiece is short, and the tool is not easy to produce vibration.




4. Angle milling cutter. Angle milling cutter is mainly used to process various angle grooves and inclined planes on horizontal milling machine. Angle milling cutters are usually made of high-speed steel. Electrical milling cutters of angle machine tools can be divided into single angle milling cutter, asymmetric double angle milling cutter and symmetrical double angle milling cutter according to their different shapes. Angle milling cutter has smaller tooth strength. When milling, appropriate cutting parameters should be selected to prevent vibration and edge collapse.




Alloy milling tools have high hardness, high wear resistance, high red hardness, high thermal stability and oxidation resistance. It is suitable for all kinds of high-speed cutting tools and wear-resistant parts working at high temperature, such as hot drawing dies. YT5 cutter is suitable for roughing steel, YT15 for finishing steel and YT for semi-finishing steel.
